Does your furnace need to be serviced?
Check the power supply
If your furnace isn’t firing up when it should be, there’s a couple of things you can do to try and narrow down the issue. In some cases, the problem may be as simple as a tripped switch.
- Check your furnace power switch typically located on the outside of the unit.
- It’s possible your furnace has a blown fuse. Check for any fuses or internal breakers on your specific furnace model.
- Ensure your thermostat is calling for heat and is properly connected to the furnace wiring.
Ensure proper airflow
If you’re experiencing reduced efficiency or output, it may be caused by an issue with airflow. You can take a couple of steps on your own to try and troubleshoot the problem.
- Replace your furnace filter.
- Boxes, laundry, dry storage, and other household items can get placed around your furnace causing insufficient airflow for your unit. Be sure to leave plenty of room around your furnace and check the exhaust pipes for any blockage.
